Google updated the repo command to use python3 by default so that now
the modification of the interpreter is no longer necessary.

- use one of our regular containers. (with a fixup for /usr/bin/python missing)
- keep the artefacts inside the checked out git repo

Import from dunfell-5.x.y branch @ 1687afa.
This does a repo init; repo sync.
It will fail if any of the layers cannot be cloned at the given revision.
